5th European User Conference for EU-Microdata

March 23 2017
On the 2nd and 3rd of March 2017 the IBS team took part in the 5th European User Conference for EU-Microdata, organised by the German Microdata Lab, GESIS and cooperated with Eurostat.

The aim of the conference was to share the findings from research based on micro-level data from databases such as the EU-LFS, EU-SILC or SES.  Eurostat representatives talked about the process of collecting the data, the associated limitations and restrictions, and about the future  plans for data harmonisation.

The presented studies included topics such as: labour market, young adults, wage dynamics, innovation and gender inequalities, as well as methodological issues.  IBS research was presented by Iga Magda and Wojciech Hardy. Iga Magda presented the early results of her research (carried out jointly with dr Ewa Cukrowska-Torzewska from Warsaw University) on gender pay gaps and workplace characteristics, with a particular focus on firm’s age. Wojciech Hardy presented the research conducted with Aneta Kiełczewska, Piotr Lewandowski and Iga Magda, on the job retention among older workers, which is based on EU LFS data.
