Labour market in the Śląskie Voivodeship and climate neutrality in 2050

The aim of the project is to assess the impact of achieving climate neutrality on the labour market in the Śląskie Voivodeship. A just transformation of the Silesia region is crucial for reducing emissions of the energy sector and minimizing the social costs of this process. In our project, we assume ambitious climate goals for Poland and we take into account the differences in structure and skills in employment projection in the mining sector.   In the project we will:

• Construct a projection of the employment transition in the coal mining industry in the scenario of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050,
• Assess the structural mismatch of employment in the mining industry until 2050,
• Analyse how the structural mismatch in the mining industry can be managed,
• Propose policies aimed at reducing worker churning in mining.
