Energy poverty of women in Poland

realization time: 01.2023 – 12.2023

The project aims to recognise Poland’s gendered energy poverty patterns. Energy poverty disproportionately affects women due to structural inequalities in their socioeconomic status and unequal access to energy resources and services. Taking these aspects into account will allow for a better understanding of the causes and severity of the problem. The results will enable more effective implementation of public policy measures to tackle energy poverty.

In the project, we will:

  • provide knowledge on the gender-related risks of energy poverty,
  • explore the strategies taken by women in energy poverty,
  • assess the effectiveness of policy instruments in the context of women’s experiences of energy poverty,
  • indicate solutions and good practices to reduce the scale of energy poverty and strengthen women’s agency in the energy transition.

A grant from the European Climate Foundation funds the project.
