The annual conference of the Population Association of America was held in Washington DC (USA) from April 9 to April 13.

The Population Association of America (PAA) is a nonprofit, scientific, professional organisation established to promote and support high-quality population research. PAA members include demographers, sociologists, economists, public health professionals, and other individuals interested in research and education in the population field. PAA membership has grown to 3,000, reflecting professional interest in the population field.

At the conference, Iga Magda presented the results of work conducted together with Natalia Danzer and Mateusz Smoter as part of the Beethoven project “GeNLaMO – Social norms and the situation of women and men in the labour market.” The presented article discusses the factors behind men’s decision to take parental leave. The authors also use an information experiment to explore the role of social norms in the context of childcare.
