The International Cooperative Alliance organised the conference – Committee on Cooperative Research Europe (ICA CCR Europe), which promotes collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers focused on cooperatives across Europe. This year, the event was hosted by the University of Eastern Finland in cooperation with the University of Helsinki.
The two-day program featured numerous presentations on topics such as the dual role of cooperatives, cooperative identity, cooperative law, and empirical studies on cooperative organisations. As part of the conference, Jan Frankowski presented a working paper titled Energy commons during crisis: Understanding housing cooperative strategies through dramaturgical sociology which highlights the key practices and collective actions undertaken by Polish housing cooperatives that produce heat independently in response to the sharp rise in energy prices and the coal shortages on the market.
The final version of the text will be published later this year in the International Journal of the Commons, a journal devoted to advancing knowledge about rules of use and management of resources by local communities.
