IBS and CVUT on the energy transition of housing cooperatives at the IASNR European Hub conference

September 15 2025
On 11–12 September, the International Association for Society and Natural Resources (IASNR) European Hub conference was held at the Faculty of Biology of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

During the conference, the Polish-Czech ENBLOC project team presented the latest research results on energy transition in housing cooperatives.

Jan Frankowski and Aleksandra Prusak from IBS gave a presentation on residents’ support for and resistance to prosumer solutions in multi-family buildings. The study shows that the energy transition in multi-family buildings faces institutional, regulatory and financial barriers. Where energy transition does take place, it usually takes a centralised form, with limited resident participation, and is motivated by savings rather than climate concerns.

Wojciech Bełch from the Czech Technical University in Prague (CVUT) presented the results of research on energy-related behaviour among residents of multi-family buildings.

Participation in the event was funded by a grant from the National Science Centre as part of the OPUS competition in the Weave programme (agreement no. 2021/43/I/HS4/03185).
