ELMI 2025 Conference in Warsaw

April 25 2025
The ELMI research network Conference ‘Jobs, Skills, and Productivity in Structural Transformations’ will take place in Warsaw on 7-8 October 2025.

The ELMI (Network of European Labour Market Research Institutes) is a scientific network of 11 research institutes (elmi-network.eu). ELMI cooperates in joint events, knowledge exchange, and the development of young scientists.

These activities aim to improve network members’ access to data and discuss policy-relevant issues and practices. Regular information exchange within the network facilitates mutual learning on pan-European labour market issues. It promotes multidisciplinary research cooperation in Europe and the exchange of best practices in data management, data access and discussions with policymakers and stakeholders.

This year’s third international scientific conference of the ELMI network, ‘Jobs, Skills, and Productivity in Structural Transformations’, is organised by the Institute for Structural Research (IBS), the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and the Luxembourg Institute for Social and Economic Research (LISER). We invite leading social scientists to discuss challenges related to employment, skills mismatches and upskilling, social cohesion, and public policy responses to industrial and structural transformations.

During this year’s conference, we would like to focus on scientific studies addressing the following issues:

  • Consequences for the labour market and long-term career trajectories of workers affected by deindustrialisation and significant structural changes
  • The impact of the green and digital transitions on skills demand and skills mismatches
  • Consequences for the labour market of military rearmament
  • Regional differences in labour market adaptation to structural change
  • The role of education systems in preparing workers for structural change
  • The effectiveness of active labour market policies (ALMP) in responding to structural change
