Gender Inequality in the Eastern European Labour Market. Twenty-five years of transition since the fall of communism

November 17 2016
A new Routledge publication presents a comprehensive overview of gender inequalities on labour markets since the fall of communism in a wide range of Eastern European countries.

Each country chapter describes the nature of inequality in the particular country (Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, East Germany, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovenia), and goes on to examine the factors responsible for this, including government policies, changing social attitudes, levels of educational attainment and the impact of motherhood.

The book was edited by Giovanni Razzu of University of Reading and is published in Routledge Contemporary Russia and Eastern Europe Series. The chapter describing the situation in Poland was written by IBS researchers Jan BaranRoma KeisterPiotr LewandowskiIga Magda. The book is already available at publisher’s website – https://www.routledge.com/Gender-Inequality-in-the-Eastern-European-Labour-Market-Twenty-five-years/Razzu/p/book/9781138999855 – and soon in other outlets.
