Historical data on the population of 974 Polish cities between 1810 and 2023 was prepared based on the OCR of tables included in studies by Stanisław Leszczycki Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization Polish Academy of Sciences and Statistics Poland, supplemented with data from the Local Data Bank (Statistics Poland) database and information from scattered sources. The database also includes details such as the estimated period during which a city reached its peak population and its value, the proportion of residents after World War II compared to the pre-war situation, and the year municipal rights were granted. The data can serve as a valuable resource in demography, settlement geography, and history; however, it requires supplementation with centres that have been granted or reinstated municipal rights recently.
