Efficiency of research and development (R&D) spending in Poland and other EU countries.

June 22 Jakub Sawulski now holds a PhD in economics from Poznań University of Economics and Business (UEP). His PhD thesis entitled “Efficiency of R&D spending in Poland and other EU countries” was prepared under the supervision of Edyta Małecka-Ziembińska, Associate Professor at UEP.

The thesis focuses on: the measurement and evaluation of the efficiency of R&D spending in European Union countries, identification of factors influencing this efficiency and preparing policy recommendations for the Polish economy in the field of R&D organisation and instruments supporting R&D in the economy. The research hypothesis verifies if the efficiency of R&D spending in Poland was comparable to other EU countries and if the relative high dynamics of GDP growth positively influenced the efficiency of R&D spending, while the low share of the enterprise sector in R&D spending influenced it negatively.

Congratulations! 🙂
