Nevi-Evy webinar ‘Young employees with disabilities: a starting point for applying the Job Crafting model’

June 18 2025
The first in a series of webinars in the Nevi-Evy project took place on 12 June 2025. During this webinar, IBS presented the complex situation of people with disabilities in the European labour market.

Across the EU, 51.3% of people with disabilities are employed. Meanwhile, in Poland, for example, only 43% of this population is employed. Among young adults with disabilities, 51% are not in employment, education or training (NEET) – the highest percentage in Europe.

Katarzyna Lipowska from IBS undertook this complex task. Her study shows what factors and motivations influence the employment of people with disabilities.

The study, based on surveys and interviews with over 2,000 participants, showed that:

  • Young people are motivated to work, eager to learn new skills and often more satisfied with their income than their older colleagues.
  • Mental health problems significantly reduce employee retention.
  • Young people in rural areas have similar working conditions but report lower levels of job satisfaction, even though they value employment for its independence and social integration.

The report highlights the crucial role of job crafters, who help young people navigate the job market and support employers in creating inclusive work environments. ‘Job Crafters have a decisive influence on success in job hunting,’ the report notes, calling for expanded mentoring, tailored training and support for employers.
