{"id":7802,"date":"2022-09-27T04:52:13","date_gmt":"2022-09-27T02:52:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ibs.org.pl\/news\/presentation-of-the-first-results-of-the-tipping-project-at-the-university-of-exeter\/"},"modified":"2022-12-30T00:00:33","modified_gmt":"2022-12-29T23:00:33","slug":"presentation-of-the-first-results-of-the-tipping-project-at-the-university-of-exeter","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ibs.org.pl\/en\/news\/presentation-of-the-first-results-of-the-tipping-project-at-the-university-of-exeter\/","title":{"rendered":"Presentation of the first results of the TIPPING + project at the University of Exeter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/global-tipping-points.org\/\">The Conference<\/a>&nbsp;remains a global forum for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-019-03595-0\">discussing global climate tipping points<\/a>, presenting the latest research results in climate sciences and connecting various specialists with backgrounds in physical geography, atmospheric physics, biology, sociology and economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/tipping-plus.eu\/home\">TIPPING+ project<\/a>, we apply the socio-ecological tipping points (SETPs) concept to study the development trajectories of coal and carbon-intensive regions. We analyse various geographical, cultural, political and economic trends which shape narrations around regional development pathways and verify these findings with regional stakeholders. The IBS team is conducting the Upper Silesia case study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the workshop, Jan Frankowski presented the case study of Upper Silesia \u2013 the largest coal region in the European Union, including a parliamentary discourse analysis about hard coal during the last 30 years, as well as the regional&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S2210422422000284\">labour market challenges until the Polish coal exit date<\/a>. During the workshop, there were also posters devoted to structural changes in Austrian, German and Spanish regions, presented by other TIPPING+ project representatives: Raphaela Maier (University of Graz), Franziska Mey (IASS Potsdam), and Joan David Tabara (Global Climate Forum).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":6488,"template":"","news_type":[308],"class_list":["post-7802","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news_type-conference"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
