The workshop focused on the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>demographic shifts taking place in SubSaharan Africa (SSA) and how these impact on labour markets;<\/li><li>the informal economy and how it links to urbanisation in the region;<\/li><li>different forms of labour regulation in SSA and how these influence informality and firm behaviour.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A set of country-level case studies was also presented, examining both current trends as well as emerging growth and employment challenges in SSA labour markets.&nbsp;Keynote Speakers included:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldbank.org\/en\/about\/people\/shanta-devarajan\">Shanta Devarajan<\/a>&nbsp;(Chief Economist \u2013 Middle East and North Africa, World Bank)&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldbank.org\/en\/about\/people\/kathleen-beegle\">Kathleen Beegle<\/a>&nbsp;(Lead Economist, Africa Region, World Bank).
