{"id":10529,"date":"2016-06-01T02:03:14","date_gmt":"2016-06-01T00:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ibs.org.pl\/events\/mannheim-energy-conference\/"},"modified":"2023-01-02T00:43:42","modified_gmt":"2023-01-01T23:43:42","slug":"mannheim-energy-conference","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/ibs.org.pl\/en\/events\/mannheim-energy-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Mannheim Energy Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 19-20 May 2016,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zew.de\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Centre for European Economic Research<\/a>&nbsp;(ZEW) and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.macci-mannheim.eu\/macci-mannheim-centre-for-competition-and-innovation\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation<\/a>&nbsp;(MaCCI) hosted the&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zew.de\/en\/veranstaltungen-und-weiterbildung\/detail\/?tx_t3events_events%5Bevent%5D=796&amp;tx_t3events_events%5Bperformance%5D=796&amp;tx_t3events_events%5Baction%5D=show&amp;tx_t3events_events%5Bcontroller%5D=Performance&amp;cHash=7bde1424dc450e8958e35ba51308eb1d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">5<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;Mannheim Energy Conference.<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp; Discussions at the conference focused mainly on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>the unification of the European energy market,<\/li><li>optimal policy of subsidizing renewable energy sources,<\/li><li>improving energy allocation in time using systems based on the compression entrusted,<\/li><li>energy efficiency of the buildings,<\/li><li>consumers\u2019 propensity to change energy suppliers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Some presented results are highly interesting<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting with energy poverty,<strong>&nbsp;David Deller<\/strong>&nbsp;(University of East England) pointed to the difficulties in creating and using single definition of energy poverty and unified policy for the whole European Union said.&nbsp;<strong>Maciej Lis<\/strong>&nbsp;(IBS) delivered a presentation on the elasticity of fuel poverty measures in respect to changes in the structure of buildings, energy prices and household income. &nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Gerhard Kussel<\/strong>&nbsp;(RWI Essen and Ruhe-University Bochum) showed that, despite the considerable potential savings only 20% of consumers change energy supplier. Additionally,&nbsp;<strong>Andreas Gerster<\/strong>&nbsp;(RWI Essen) pointed out that the obligation to indicate the energy efficiency of buildings in the sale advertisements lowered housing prices with poor energy efficiency by 5%. &nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Niels-Henrik M. Von Der Fehr<\/strong>&nbsp;(University of Oslo) and&nbsp;<strong>Christophe Gence-Creux<\/strong>&nbsp;(ACER) from various perspectives characterized the technical, organizational and political difficulties in construction of the unified European electricity market.&nbsp;<strong>Thomas-Olivier Leautier<\/strong>&nbsp;(Toulouse School of Economics) showed that subsidizing the wind energy will not be able to expire in the UK. Furthermore, priority granted&nbsp; to the wind energy causes the displacement of the least flexible energy source i.e. nuclear power plants.
