{"id":10298,"date":"2015-07-08T02:02:45","date_gmt":"2015-07-08T00:02:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ibs.org.pl\/events\/warsaw-international-economic-meeting-wiem-2015\/"},"modified":"2023-01-02T01:11:42","modified_gmt":"2023-01-02T00:11:42","slug":"warsaw-international-economic-meeting-wiem-2015","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/ibs.org.pl\/en\/events\/warsaw-international-economic-meeting-wiem-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Warsaw International Economic Meeting (WIEM 2015)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The conference gathered researchers from leading Polish economic institutions (University of Warsaw, National Bank of Poland, Warsaw School of Economics, CenEA) and foreign ones (LSE, IZA, DIW, Free University of Amsterdam, Catholic University of Louvain, University of Bologna, University of Southampton, University of Aarhus).&nbsp;<strong>John Van Reenen<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Gianmarco Ottaviano<\/strong>, both from&nbsp;<strong>London School of Economics<\/strong>, were this year\u2019s conference keynote speakers. John Van Reenen, whose research addresses firms\u2019 productivity and innovation, presented results of studies on the relationship between managerial culture and firms\u2019 performance. Gianmarco Ottaviano, renowned scholar in international trade theory, discussed a&nbsp;new class of trade simulation models. &nbsp; IBS team presented results of our recent research.&nbsp;<strong>Piotr Lewandowski<\/strong>&nbsp;discussed the evolution of task content of jobs in Poland [<a href=\"https:\/\/ibs.org.pl\/en\/publications\/do-entrants-take-it-all-the-evolution-of-task-content-of-jobs-in-poland-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IBS WP 10\/2015<\/a>].&nbsp;<strong>Agata Miazga<\/strong>&nbsp;showed the results of analysis identifying groups of Poles most vulnerable to rising energy prices [<a href=\"https:\/\/ibs.org.pl\/en\/publications\/who-will-be-affected-by-rising-energy-prices-map-of-energy-expenditures-of-poles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IBS WP 11\/2015<\/a>].&nbsp;<strong>Maciej Lis<\/strong>&nbsp;talked about the changes in health spending associated with ageing [<a href=\"https:\/\/ibs.org.pl\/en\/publications\/what-drives-the-increase-in-health-care-costs-with-age-maciej-lis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IBS WP 05\/2015<\/a>].&nbsp;<strong>Agnieszka Kaminska<\/strong>&nbsp;discussed the impact of increasing minimum wage in a&nbsp;labour market with high temporary employment [<a href=\"https:\/\/ibs.org.pl\/en\/publications\/the-effects-of-minimum-wage-on-a-labour-market-with-high-temporary-employment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IBS WP 07\/2015<\/a>].&nbsp;<strong>Jan Baran<\/strong>&nbsp;spoke about the incidence of overeducation in Polish labour market.&nbsp;<strong>Wojciech Hardy<\/strong>&nbsp;discussed the impact of on-line streaming on digital music sales. &nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>We are grateful to all commentators for their valuable advice.
