The purpose of this report is to present a concept for development of private health insurance system in Poland. Currently, health insurance is a small fraction of the insurance market, as well as a small part of total health expenditure in Poland. At the same time the share of private money in spending for health care is very high - these are the costs of medicines, paid private visits, as well as the so-called 'proofs of gratitude'.
Given the scale of health expenditure in the budgets of the Poles, well designed system of private health insurance gives the chance to better use the funds already spent. It will also bring benefits in terms of increasing access to health care and improve quality.
