(Un)Competitive Poland - how we lose an international regulatory competition?Tags: macroeconomics, social_development, publications_from_2010
Publication date: 10.12.2010
This text is an attempt to draw attention to the fact that current situation prevents a genuine modernization of Poland ie, the successful integration of our country in the world's economic lifeblood on the rights of a strong, competitive economic organism. Thus, cleverly designed regulatory changes are no less important for long-term success of Poland than macroeconomic or social reforms. In our opinion, they are also very urgent. We emphasize that the actions of the Polish authorities should concentrate on three levels. First, the streamline process of Polish economic regulation should be extracted, namely a clear demarcation of responsibilities of individual ministries and the Prime Minister's Office for this process. Second, increasing the effectiveness of the regulatory system of our country requires a thorough reconstruction of law in Poland, including some fundamental changes in operation for many years of institutional and administrative apparatus habits. Thirdly, major reforms are needed in the principles of justice, which at present is one of the biggest obstacles for Poland to become a truly modern state, competitive and efficient in operation.
