Impact of Euro zone accession of Poland on employment and unemploymentTags: labour_market, european_integration, macroeconomics, european_social_fund, projects_from_2008
Completion date: 31.03.2008
The aim of the project was to assess the impact of the accession to the Euro zone on the supply and demand of labour in Poland and through this – on employment, unemployment and wages in Poland. The basic component of the project was a general equilibrium model construction for Poland with an expanded module of labour market. The analyses carried out within the framework of the project enable a sectoral analysis of the reform influence.
The exact date of Polish accession to the Euro zone is still not defined but considering treaty commitments towards EU and an increasing stability of the public finances one can expect that introduction of Euro is a matter of the next couple of years.
The results of the project are important for the labour market institutions and enable to define detailed conclusions for the economic and labour market policies. The subject of the project was a quantitative assessment of economic consequences of Euro introduction that helps the labour market institutions in a proper preparation for the forthcoming changes.
The project was realized in partnership with the Foreign Trade Research Institute.
