Jan Witajewski-Baltvilks is a graduate of the London School of Economics (BSc Economics), University of Cambridge (MPhil Economics) and European University Institute (MRes and PhD). He is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw.
He is nominated to be a lead author of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report. Author of scientific papers, published articles in the renowned journal 'Energy Economics'. In his PhD thesis, he analysed the determinants of the direction and pace of technological changes in developed countries.
He is a member of the Editorial Board for Climate Policy journal. Between 2013 and 2015 he was involved in research projects at the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei in Milan. He has recently participated in a number of projects aimed at evaluating the cost of climate policies.
His research at the Institute for Structural Research is focused on the influence of technological progress on climate change and the labour market.
